Anniņmuižas mežs (Anninmuizas Woods) is a piece of nature surrounded by Jurmalas road and semi circle Anniņmuižas boulevard, which hosts a lot of new and Soviet high-rise apartment buildings. Just recently the park’s paths and playgrounds were rebuilt and renovated, and light posts were installed, so the park became much more cozy and safe, especially for kids.
My family lives in the Imanta neighbourhood, right next to Anniņmuižas Park, so I often walk and play here with my kids. Especially in the winter, because there are some little hills and kids just love tobogganing in the snow. Sometimes we build a snow fortress and then we throw snowballs, which turns into a real kids war. During the winter time a large Christmas tree is also installed here.
A lot of people walk in the park with their dogs, and new mommies walk with prams over many paths around the park. Unfortunately there’s almost no wildlife in the park, even a little squirrel is a rare thing. But this is common for all parks in Riga.
