Bites Blues Club – Blues to breathe

Bites Blues Club (BBC) is classic place here in Riga and my favorite one if I am in the mood for some blues music. The owners of BBC claim that it is the only blues club in Baltic’s. Sounds powerful, yet I appreciate that it is not a fancy place for cream of society, so the only preparation I have to do before visit, is to call for a table reservation. My suit can easily rest in my wardrobe.

Regarding reservations in advance it is not mandatory but highly recommended especially if Latvian Blues Band is playing for the night. The place is usually crowded with locals and guests from all over the world and that is no surprise. It is almost impossible to get such energy and positive vibrations elsewhere.

Not only are there Latvian acts playing, but blues professionals from the USA are also frequent guests on the BBC stage.

The food at BBC is nicely prepared, a bit on the pricey end though. To save my wallet I have found the best combination while waiting for the evening performance, so here it is – grab a few beers and a plate of those fine Deep-fried squid rings with roasted pepper sauce.

Sounds simple and I know – it is not the same as enjoying a glass of old bourbon with some black pepper steak but Bites Blues Club to my opinion is not about the food, but all about the blues.
