A new restaurant in Andrejsala! Koya was opened last summer. Check out their photographs, it is really cool to see what was here before and how this place looked just few months ago. Koya is a restaurant with a nice atmosphere, good music and on weekends live music or DJ’s (and more).

Koya has an outside terrace, so when the weather is nice it’s a perfect place to have a lunch or dinner outside. Another great thing about Koya is that it’s not crowded, but still in the centre. It also has a nice view of the other side of Daugava and the harbor and its yachts. The service is good and the food, wine and desserts are delicious! The beautiful interior is in black and white and in each part of the restaurant it is different. 

I would suggest you go for a walk to Andrejsala, have a coffee or tea in Zulu bar (read the article here) and on the way back stop by Koya and have dinner or a glass of wine there. It’s a perfect place for meeting friends.

I visited this place with my friend after a biking tour. When we were biking around Riga we went to Miera Street and saw great cafes, shops, galleries and we found this street to be really peaceful. After that biking tour we decided that all our next tours would end on Miera street, each time in a different café.

In Café Mierā (“Café in peace”) you will smell the wonderful freshly baked cakes- carrot cake, beet- raspberries, marzipan, cheese with berries, chocolate or soft caramel cake… The place also smells of coffee, cocoa, trifles and cookies which have been made fresh from natural ingredients. This is a place where I have tried the best cocoa ever!

This website shows Cafe Mierā’s interior. It is so, so cozy, nice and lovely. So many details and this all together makes you feel good, just like you’re at home. Sit at the table closer to the bar or by the window with a wide view of the street. Or maybe somewhere deeper in silence and in a quiet corner on a comfortable couch. Anyone just enjoy your drink!

Besides coffee and cacao, Cafe Mierā has home-made chokeberry, blackcurrant, raspberry and birch juice wine, liqueur or brandy. Perfect for a nice long talk with your friend or to read a new novel, which you can find on the book shelf.

This Thursday, February 28, there’s an acoustic guitar concert. Starts at 18:30. Two glasses of wine for one price.
