Every city has its own utopic place where time stops and long walks take place. The left bank of Daugava has its own little paradise – the Arcadia Park. Created in the end of the 19th century, this idyllic and harmonic park is my favorite place for recreation and relaxation. The romantic atmosphere, little waterfalls and tiny bridges let one escape their daily troubles and enjoy the beauty of nature. The small river Marupite twisting among the stonehills make Arcadia one of the most beautiful places in Riga.
The only disturbing thing about the park is that originally there was a restaurant building and an amphitheatre there, but they burned down several years ago by vandals and were never restored.
In the end, the only thing that remains is nature, so by any chance, cross Daugava to enjoy the silence, feed the ducks by the Māras pond and experience the ‘green’ Riga.
