Some years ago Andrejsala was a very popular place amongst young people at heart and soul. Many art and cultural events were organized, mostly of underground or non-commercial nature.
Sometimes it feels that the place has become a bit forgotten and neglected, but it still has great charm – when you wander between its old buildings, crazy graffiti, and sweet memories. Recently some new restaurants opened here and I wonder if Andrejsala will get back its popularity!?
Andrejsala has a different kind of charm compared to the rest of the city but it is definitely worth it to give it a try.
I like the very tip of the island’s Northern part – it can be a bit dodgy but it is the best for enjoying those fabulous sunsets in Riga or to get a little glimpse of how Riga Port is behaving.
If you have an adventurous spirit Andrejsala can be interesting all year long, at least for me it is, as all my favorite spots here are doing well no matter the season.
