On your way around the city it’s very easy to not notice this small cafe that has settled inside one of the towers that surround the entrance in the Vērmanes garden. The tower was built around the year 1927 and was empty for many years until a creative and maybe a slightly unusual guy came there with his dream of a very special coffee place. This architecturally sustainable cafe is only 2.62 square meters large but has all the necessary things – great coffee, friendly barista and cool music that all together creates a special atmosphere.
The tiny cafe opens its windows at seven o’clock in the morning and everyone who passes by can taste different types of delicious “Illy” coffee drinks as well as smoothie cocktails, tea and cocoa. If you are lucky you will be served by the Coffee tower’s owner himself (you will definitely recognize him because of his eccentric looks – rich beard and a cylinder hat) but in case he isn’t there you will find the most friendly and kind baristas in the city.
This tower-shaped cafe is one of the most original places I’ve found in Riga lately and no wonder that it attracts the attention of both urban hipsters and tourists. One is sure – this is a place with a special aura and it provides a whole new coffee-drinking experience.
