Jarmarka is a legendary student art fair happening once a year, usually around Christmas time, so I would say it’s a bit of a Christmas market without making a sloppy mistake. Earnings from the sales are donated to restore the beauty of the art Academy of Latvia building.
The fair has a rich history back to the year 2003 and for many locals including me it is a dear tradition to visit it every year. For some it is more like an event than a market as so many interesting artworks, people, miracles and emotions can be found there. At least I have always enjoyed my time spent there.
This year the event will take place at the Art Academy of Latvia premises from December 15 – December 30 but please note of the blackout period from December 24 – December 26 when the fair will take a short break.
