I have always wondered why there was not a proper place to get a decent porridge in Riga. Everybody knows that porridge is good for you, right? Still it is rather unpopular to put this type of food on a restaurant menu.
Then the well experienced chef Denis Ivankovs opened a restaurant. The name is Kasha, which is the Russian word for porridge. One will find a fantastic combination of tasty food, excellent service, an industrial yet romantic interior and fine tableware.
Part of the menu is dedicated (yes, you have guessed correctly) to porridge – not the traditional one as the chef has added doses of creativity to the recipes. Besides porridge one will find good traditional breakfast options, tasty coffee from Nespresso, a great menu with meat and vegetarian dishes. Kasha was listed as one of best restaurants in Latvia for the year 2015.
I was intrigued by the spot but somehow could not manage to visit it for quite some time. Then one day my wife assured me that it was time to have a meal there. So we did. Time was spent well there and we left with no disappointment but with a positive vibe and a conviction that we’d be returning.
