As a person who has lived in Riga for a long time, I know that eating out in Old Town is relatively expensive, especially if I want to have a regular meal, but not a McDonald’s type of meal. During my studies and then work in Old Town I always had a goal – find a great but not expensive food place, otherwise I’d have to bring homemade meatballs with spaghetti to work, which is not convenient at all.
But for several months now the situation has changed for the better, a bistro named Pipars (Pepper) had opened just next to the most-famous shopping mall Galerija Centrs. A lot of people, like students, white-collars and other people working in Old Riga spread the word of a nice, but cheap restaurant right in the middle of Old Town. The place doesn’t have a website nor a facebook page yet, but the word of mouth marketed the place better than anything else could.
