Whether you want to look at Riga from the left side of River Daugava, take some beautiful photos, have a picnic or simply take a walk and relax, the Saules Akmens garden is the right spot to visit. It is located next to the headquarters of the bank Swedbank on the banks of the river Daugava.
I like this spot because it offers a great view of the Old Riga, Vanšu, Akmens and Railway bridges, AB Dambis, the port of Riga and other places worth seeing and visiting. It is great for a little walk, and it’s even possible to access the river Daugava from here.
In my view, the best time to visit this spot is during the sunrise. It feels very magical to witness the sun rising above the skyline of Riga and its well-known church towers and then reflect in the glass skyscraper called Saules Akmens. And the name suits it extremely well, since Saules Akmens means “sun stone” in English.
