Shawarma Africana – Egyptian kebab

On my way home I like to stop at Shawarma Africana for a piece of the delicious Egyptian kebab these nice people serve. Check out the menu to see what to expect.

In general there is nothing special about the place itself. It’s a traditional kebab stall you can find in every European capital but still I like it quite a lot better than all those I have visited while traveling around the world.

Why? Well, mostly it is because of my first visit there on their grand opening day, when the owner, clearly a foreigner, spoke to me in Latvian and my kebabs were wrapped in everyday used printing paper sheet. That was amazing. At first I thought – the place will not last long with such an interesting approach. But my doubts were gone in the same moment the first piece touched my taste-buds.

Since then they have improved their wrapping techniques so no more A4 format paper, but the kebab quality is still the same high level. Yummy!
