During the last years there’s been a tendency of entertainment venues moving farther away from the old-town of Riga. Vieta (in English – “place”) is also located away from the hustle and bustle of the capital’s old center. As one of its owners explained – their philosophy and emphasis is not on the profit but on the better atmosphere, and I think that they most certainly have achieved that.
Vieta is a club, a bar and a cafe. People in Vieta all look familiar with each other and that provides a friendly feeling all around. Blue-colored walls and the lively Valdemāra street scenery outside the window create a special combination, which perfectly complements the wide wine collection on the wall.
During the evenings you might come across some concerts by young Latvian musicians and DJs as well as table tennis tournaments and wine degustation, open mic comedian performances, improvisation theatres and even art exhibitions. No wonder Vieta calls itself a culture-bar.
Because of its wide profile Veta is a place for everyone – those who want to have an early morning coffee, have a delicious soup from their lunch offer, chats with friends in the afternoon, attend late parties or just to buy a bottle of quality wine to drink on the spot or take home.
