I have spotted my fair share of craft beer places in Rome and they are all great places. Each one of them has something different: the location, the number of drafts, the service and so on. I love every single one of those places but there is a reason I end up drinking at Barley Wine every time I possibly can.
This is the pub I miss when I’m not in Rome. This is the pub where the guys working there know my name and have lengthy discussions with me about which beer is the best between the ones they have on tap. This is the pub where I would love to work one day.
Everything about the Barley Wine is perfect: the vibe of the place is really relaxed and comfortable, they serve great beer and great hamburgers at some of the best prices of the city, and even though it’s not exactly in the city center, the metro brings you there very quickly and the neighborhood is quiet, far away from the chaos of more hip districts.
If I had to choose the last pub I want to have my last beer at, Barley Wine would be a no brainer for me. They even serve great wine, so you literally have no excuses. I know I am setting expectations really high, but I would not do it if I wasn’t certain this place can live up to them.
