There are few places in Rome that can say they have set the standard for Roman nightlife. The “Ma che ce siete venuti a fà” is one of those places. This pub has been leading the wagon of craft beer in Rome since it was born, raising the bar for all other pubs, and it has even been voted as one of the top pubs in Europe by the site Ratebeer.
The star here is, you guessed it, beer. The place itself, right in the middle of Trastevere, is pretty nice but it’s difficult to see because this place is always packed, flooding the whole area in front with happy locals drinking their amazing pint. Right next to the entrance there’s the counter with 16 different taps from all over the world and a peculiar selection of beer in bottles, mainly sour or lambic.
The staff here is really nice and although it’s sometimes hard to get past the barrier of people in front of the bar, once you have their attention they are really prepared in advising you in which beer to choose and are clearly passionate in what they do. I will never understand how they do it but they seem to have a superpower that helps them understand immediately “what beer you’re made of”.
It’s worth mentioning the owners decide the taplist for one of the biggest European beer festivals, the “Eurhop”, usually going on in the beginning of October.
