After crossing the Rijnhavenbrug (see the Rijnhaven Round article) you will arrive at the Deliplein which, for me, is the heart and soul of Katendrecht. At the corner of the square, next to Deli Bird (check the Deli Bird article) you will find De Matroos en het Meisje.
De Matroos en het Meisje (The Sailor and the Girl) reflects, in my point of view, the atmosphere and happenings at Katendrecht in a perfect way. With its notable lighting and very colorful interior, dinner at the restaurant is a real boat ride.
There is no standard menu available, we only had the option of a three- four- or five course menu picked by the chef. Any special wishes or dislikes will be honored by the chef. Some of the courses are pretty ‘out of the box’. I was reserved about the squid risotto and beef of the mule but the taste was overwhelming and I enjoyed it very much!
The menu will vary from time to time but I think the chef will always surprise me.
