Another good thing about Rotterdam is the amount of green space available relatively close to the center. Next to the Kralingse plas (check the Kralingse Plas article) and the Vroesenpark you can also hang out at the Bergsevoorplas. It’s located in the north and just a 15 to 20 min drive (by bike) from the center. You can also hop on tram 4 in the direction “Molenlaan” and get off at “Bergse Dorplaan” and walk down the small shopping street. The Bergsevoorplas is part of Hillegersberg, a more upper-class neighborhood of Rotterdam.
As I live in the northern part I like to go running at the Bergsevoorplas. It makes you forget you are living in a busy, lively city even though it’s just 10 minutes away. If running isn’t part of the plan then sit down on the grass or on one of the many benches around the lake. The restaurant Gauchos (Argentinian steak restaurant) is located at the edge of the lake and has a terrace with a great view of the lake and, though a bit far away, the skyline of Rotterdam. More into Argentinian wines instead of meat, check out Mendoza (check the Mendoza article).
Even though it seems summer isn’t ending the trees are slowly starting to turn yellow and orange and the smell of autumn is everywhere!
