The Rijnhaven bridge (for cyclists and pedestrians) connects the Wilhelminapier with Katendrecht. People started leaving little locks to celebrate their love and now I call it the love bridge ;). Another Love-Lock-location is in Delfshaven opposite Havenstraat 51.
The bridge makes for a great new walk, starting at the Erasmus bridge. Explore the Wilhelminapier with the Fotomuseum (check the Nederlands Foto Museum article), The Rotterdam by Rem Koolhaas (with a great terrace on the 7th floor of hotel Nhow) and other skyscrapers like Montevideo by Mecanoo, and the world famous Hotel New York, great for a drink. Next to HNY on the south side of the pier you find a little harbor with the water taxi and the Rijnhaven (love)bridge.
When you cross this bridge towards Katendrecht you’ll pass POSSE (check the Posse article) and Fenix Food Factory (check the Fenix Food Factory article). Go straight on and you’ll get to Deliplein with nice shops, good restaurants and the Walhalla theatre. If you pass Deliplein, continue on Sumatraweg, at one corner you’ll find Bleij with great ice cream.
Turn right and continue towards the end of the peninsula to the SS Rotterdam, a big steamship with hotel rooms, restaurants, bars and a shop. Continue towards Rijnhaven, follow the Hillelaan along Bram’s Stoof and dobberend bos (check the Dobberend Bos article), back towards Erasmusbridge. Cross or turn right on Stieltjestraat. Explore the architecture on the Kop van Zuid and head back into town via the Willemsbrug.
