Many times before writing stuff for this blog I’d take a little stroll through the city to clear my mind and make up a good story. Something strange happened while thinking about this particular article. I remembered the first time I went to The Maassilo and realized that that was almost 10 years ago. Does this mean the venue is just so great it can keep me interested for over 10 years or am I becoming old and stuck in a rut? Let’s just hope it’s because The Maassilo is still a great place to party!
The construction of the site started in 1906 and quickly became the biggest grain storage silo in Europe, able to store 20,000 tons of grain. Somewhere in the 90s it was decided to store the grain elsewhere but the building stayed. Enough history for now, let’s talk about the Maassilo year 2016. The grain is gone but loads of the pipelines, concrete walls, floors and hallways are still there. It shows you you’re not in just a regular club. You’re dancing your ass off in an old silo.
Whether you like techno, dance or RnB music, you can find them all at the Maassilo. Just make sure you check their website to get to know the agenda. You can also buy your tickets online to prevent queuing. Depending on the event you can party in the huge areas downstairs or at Factory010 in the top of the building. Both will do just fine!
