This year’s biketour I organised as a guide for the MoMo festival was about the history of mural art to streetart nowadays which you can find/see here in town.
Well, get ready to grab a bike to check out the next streetart project which is happening now as we speak: ROAR, Rotterdam Art Ride.
Foundation Mesh and Marjon v/d Linde set up this plan and they received a grant from the municipality to execute this big art project in the south part of Rotterdam.
18! pillars will be painted by local and international artists like e.g IAMEELCO, Oko176 , Nacho Eterno, duo Bier&Brood and Daan Botlek from 5 – 9 June.
These pillars support the metro viaduct and are between the Rijnhaven and Maashaven stops.
The project will also get local kids from age 8 – 18 involved to join with the artists and have them work on designs as 4 pillars will be available for them. This is a collaboration with NIFFO Gallery as it has earned an important place at the Afrikaanderwijk for youngsters set up by Zoë Cochia.
You’re of course able to check out work in progress during this week or visit the official opening on the 10th of June. Should you have any questions, some are in for a talk.
The murals will remain on the pillars for a period of 5 years.
Come & see for yourself!
