I finally made it to STROOP (again). A good pit stop in this experimental living room/workspace run by dedicated volunteers, to grab a warm drink AND a freshly made waffle with syrup (the famous Dutch(?) stroopwafel) straight from the hot press.
STROOP is located at Delfshaven next to Spangen and if you’re coming from the south part like I am, it can feel a bit off of your ‘normal’ route of cycling. Don’t let that deter you from going here though.
Besides serving tea and coffee from Evermore and making fresh waffles with different flavour combos (check the blackboard and what at first sight might seem like an unassuming mix of flavours to combine with a waffle), there’s also soup and sandwiches on offer. Want more waffles? Take them home with you.
After placing your order, have a seat somewhere on the vintage furniture, among the secondhand books from Leeszaal West and other items like posters, bags, jewelry, pottery etc. from several designers as STROOP functions also as a shop. I like the assortment of postcards and posters from i.e. Mwah and Wuudy as a small gift by snail mail.
They also organise workshops, exhibitions, game and movie nights and much more, so keep an eye on their calendar to see what’s happening at STROOP.
As of October STROOP has its own stall at the Fenix Food Factory at Stielman coffee (see article Fenix Food Factory). I can’t deny that it’s nice to have them closer to me now :-).
