In stark contrast with the modern and fast character of Rotterdam, gastro pub V11 is like dipping a toe into another world. A world where tea comes in pots, menus come in old books and Sunday roast is served. I get a little nostalgic about British influences, but even for those of you who don’t share that feeling, V11 is worth visiting.
Located on a bright red ship in Wijnhaven, V11 is a sight in itself. During the day it is a perfect place for tea and cake and the list of special beers is very inviting. It’s lovely and cosy, a place to bring your friends, children, pets (maybe not, not sure if it’s allowed). It has a sofa, lazy chairs, rugs and mismatched china, making it feel more like someone’s home than a restaurant and generally like a place where you want to kick your off shoes and play a game of chess.
For a few months now they’ve also started holding intimate concerts that are worth keeping an eye on and when the sun is shining you can sit out on the deck, have a beer, and generally be happy you exist.
