The days are long and the sun is out (when we’re lucky) and summer needs to be celebrated. For those longing for some holiday atmosphere in the middle of the city, Viskantine aan de Cool is the place.
For the 3rd year running, this little place on the water has opened for the season and it is very inviting with long wooden benches and tables on the sand and with colourful lanterns and lights hanging overhead.
The food is simple but fine, slabs of fish, cockles, prawns etc. Just as in southern countries, when you order fish, it is simply fish. However there are options of salads, bread and pimentos.
For the full holiday experience there’s the opportunity to play jeu de boules while you wait for your fish to grill.
Viskantine opens every day at 17:00 but it is only open when the weather is good, so keep an eye on the website.
