A couple of friends of mine expected this place to be crowded, full of bars and other stuff that draw people’s attention. Now, some years later… nothing’s changed. It is still a relatively quite, peaceful walk along the river Maas. Most people stop wandering around after they have passed the Veerhaven, a beautiful small harbour filled with some good looking boats. From the Veerhaven you can also jump on a small water cab and take a fast ride across the river.
The Westerkade is a small strip that takes you from the Veerhaven to the Park. In the Park you can also find the Euromast, once the tallest building of the country, now a tall building like many others.
Take a seat on one of the many benches located along the riverside and enjoy the boats passing by. If the weather allows, you can also take off your shoes and paddle a bit in the river at the spot where a small inlet is created. Please don’t try to go swimming, that can be pretty dangerous.
