Botanic Garden – Eternal summer in the city

The local nature is tough and teaches us how to survive more than how to relax. However, locals have this secret place in case we need to see some greenies :). This is the Botanic Garden, the oldest nature museum in the city. The story of this spot started a long time ago, when Peter the Great, the founder of the city established the special herbal plot for pharmaceutical objectives.

In fact, the Botanic Garden is still a rather scientific place. Being a part of the Russian Academy of Science it follows specific rules. It turns out that normally you have to wait for a guide to enter the orangeries.

Luckily, now when there are many guests who want to see exotic flowers (regularly during the weekends) the garden is switching to walking mode. So the visit looks like a walk though the jungle. I believe it’s more interesting and also may help you to avoid any language issues. However employees are dispersed in the woods to tell you rare facts about their green friends.

There are several routes in the tropical and subtropical orangeries, sometimes the Botanic Garden works during the nights for special occasions, for instance, when the night flowers are flourishing. Well, it’s a unique experience, and if you plan a visit, I would suggest to check the Facebook page first and ask employees when the garden is working in walking mode to assure a smooth visit.

Be careful, the ticket office accepts cash only.
