For me there are 2 Poisons: one for weekday evenings, another for weekend nights. I personally strongly prefer the first but I need to warn you right-away: 90% chance you will be late for the bus or subway!
In the spirit of an American roadside bar (how I imagine it) in the red light and under the disco ball, 3 TVs broadcast lyrics to songs everybody knows and enjoys singing aloud. Can be Iggy Pop, Bob Marley, RHCP, No Doubt, Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, best of Madonna, Sting, Savage Garden or Portishead and so on and on. All songs are in English, all orders are free of charge.
Weekdays live begins at 22:00 lasting throughout the night. I often say you’re only allowed to sing here if you have a degree in vocal performance and preferably a second one in linguistics. Of course, it’s not true but the level of singing is high: in case someone feels nervous about his/her capability, the karaoke DJ helps.
When there are no volunteers from audience the same DJ might sing herself (or himself – but I’ve only seen a girl) in a beautiful voice. Great pleasure to listen to and probably sing along sitting at the bar. In these moments the entire space sings or even whistles along with Scorpions “Wind of Change”.
Weekend nights are louder and far more crowded, many people not only sing but dance to the songs. You won’t find a place to sit and maybe stand but will definitely enjoy the atmosphere.
