It would be impossible for me to be any more enthusiastic about Rubi’s Cookies than I already am. This amazing confectionery combines two of my absolute favorite things-local St. Petersburg lore and desserts. Rubi’s Cookies is a small sweets shop near the Sennaya Ploshchad’ metro station. Rubi’s carries chocolate truffles with mouthwatering flavors like chili, basil, mint, and salted caramel, but what makes them really stand out are their more bespoke items.
For example, lining the walls of the shop are lollipops in the shapes of everything from cartoon characters to political figures to Russian literary greats. Or, if chocolate is more to your fancy, you can try a bag of chocolate pelmeni, or Russian dumplings.
My favorite Rubi’s item is the chocolate ‘lucky ticket’. As you may have noticed, public transport tickets in St. Petersburg have six numbers. If the sum of the first three equals the sum of the last three, your ticket is considered ‘happy’ or ‘lucky’. If you are so fortunate as to get one of these tickets, you can bring it to Rubi’s and they will memorialize your luck in a chocolate version of a ticket.
Rubi’s Cookies is the perfect place to go for a literal taste of St. Petersburg you can bring back home with you.
