It’s hard to find a better enogastronomic experience in St Petersburg! It’s even hard to find the Tre Bicchieri restaurant itself, because it doesn’t have any sign at all.
Just opposite the Nikolsky Cathedral, in building #33 you’ll see a small closed wooden door, some covered windows and a ring to be rung. Inside you find the first room with leather sofas and a variety of different wines for sale. In the second room there is a small and private restaurant with only 4 tables. The owners don’t want to attract too much attention to this very special place.
The collection includes different unique wines from small producers. The list of around 250 wines from Italy, France (including Champagne), Germany and Austria depends on each supply. All of them could be served in the restaurant that offers very outstanding dishes all made of the products that are imported from France and other countries several times a week for the needs of this very kitchen. All the cooks studied at Noma – a two Michelin star restaurant in Copenhagen. It’s really hard to describe this food with words, especially when you try it with assembled wines – you just feel like you’re in gastro heaven.
It’s not a surprise that Tre Bicchieri is extremely expensive and has had presidents and governors among its guests. On the wall in the restaurant you can find a € 200 banknote signed by Juan Carlos I of Spain. For sure it’s better to make a reservation in advance.
