Doesn’t matter if it’s warm and sunny or dark and windy, locals love ice-cream. Me too, but when it’s dark and windy I prefer Italian ice-cream that reminds me of my great vacation in Florence. We are lucky to have a small piece of Italy here in Saint Petersburg. This true gelateria Venezia is located on Staronevsky, pretty close to Moscow Railway Station.
I believe it’s the best ice cream in the city, but the coffee is pretty strong. Be careful with espresso! Even local Italians said it’s forte. So if you would like to shake yourself up a bit, you can try lungo. The cappuccino is gentle and a rather universal drink, but really big – probably the biggest cappuccino I have ever found in St.Pete.
Apart from 10 flavors of homemade ice-cream, there are two big advantages of this place. The former is the lemon cake and the latter is the chocolate cake. I have asked the hosts several times why it’s so tasty, but they said the recipe is the Big Secret.
Warning #1 – No credit cards accepted!
Warning #2 – Book your table in advance or enjoy take away ice-cream. The spot is really popular and during the evenings it’s full.
The beautiful girls working in Venezia speak English and Italian. The spot is children-friendly and smoking is prohibited.
