Everyone needs a restaurant that’s delicious, reliable, and creates the kind of ambiance that feels like home. Aperto is one of my “back pocket” restaurants – it’s where I go when I don’t feel like risking something new, when I want delicious, perfect food that will satisfy everyone. A date who later became more than a date first suggested Aperto, and I have been coming back ever since.
I love perusing the daily specials that are posted on the chalkboard high above the dining room – you can tell from reading it that everything is fresh and in season – ravioli stuffed with butternut squash and ricotta, cauliflower fritters with red pepper aioli, whatever the fish of the day is….I have never been disappointed. Recently I enjoyed arancini, Sicilian fried rice balls – in this case with mozzarella and pesto.
Aperto’s chef takes advantage of the bounty of northern California, using seasonal vegetables and fruits to create home-style, but complex and satisfying meals. It’s the kind of place that has great food with absolutely no pretense – and worthy of a date who you want to become more than a date.
