The other day I found myself downtown in need of an internet hotspot when I spotted the Capital One 360 Cafe. This place was abuzz with activity perhaps because the coffee is discounted to help lure people inside. They also offer an assortment of food items, but the best thing about this cafe is the abundance of workspaces available. With the open floor plan and lively scene, it felt like I was setting up shop at a local startup company.
You get approached by someone asking if you’d like to open a bank account. It appears to be an extensive effort to market banking services, but all you have to say is no thank you and you’ll be left alone to enjoy your drink and to work at your leisure. Frequently there is fun and interesting art to see. Many of the patrons appeared to be using the space just as I was doing and probably how the bank intended as a place for people to use for work and business meetings.
Being owned and operated by a large financial institution doesn’t lend itself to provide the typical welcoming warmth of a stereotypical coffeehouse. After all, it is smack-dab in the middle of a bustling downtown, but if you want a coffee or a place to tap away on your keyboard, I highly recommend the Capital One 360 Cafe.
