Hardly Strictly Bluegrass – My favorite music fest

What could be possibly better than three glorious days of music in Golden Gate Park? Try three FREE days of music! It doesn’t get much better than this. Imagine more than 40 top notch artists, bands, and performers entertaining several hundred thousand happy folks in one of the best venues on the planet.

Not only is Golden Gate Park one picture perfect place, but this festival is all the better because it’s free through the generous philanthropy of Warren Hellman. The man generously financed the festival in perpetuity, and now the city, music world and humanity is forever better for it.

You won’t find high priced ticket scalpers, over lording security guards, long lines and $10 beers at this festival. That’s precisely what makes it so great. Along with the incredible entertainment, you can bring in your lawn chairs, blankets, coolers, food & drink. You are free to roam from one stage to the next or come and go as you please throughout the weekend. Even though there are thousands of people milling about and it can get crowded, it’s one of the happiest concerts you may ever attend.

Did I mention the music? The lineup usually includes some of the best names in folk, country, alternative country, bluegrass, and Americana to name a few of the represented genres.

The festival dates for 2017 are October 6 to October 8. So, make your way to Golden Gate Park and follow the crowd towards the music in Hellman Hollow.
