Mission Cliffs – Indoor rock climbing in Potrero

When I feel that I need a physical challenge or feel the thrill of heights, and to maintain my rock-climbing skills, I head for Mission Cliffs in Potrero Hill. This indoor climbing gym offers top roping and bouldering for a wide range of levels, and includes a 50 ft (15 meter) lead wall with great features, like roofs, cracks, and long steeps.

For inexperienced climbers, Mission Cliffs has classes and equipment for rent – I have brought several friends as guests, and a few have now become devoted climbers. The capable instructors will make sure that you are well outfitted, capable, and most importantly, safe before you begin climbing.

After the class, you can stay and try your new skills on the many curvaceous walls. Climbing paths are color coded to guide climbers from a wide range of abilities. If you need a partner, it’s always easy to find single climbers looking to pair up.
