With Netflix, Red Box, Amazon Prime, and Hulu, video stores are a relic of the 90s. As someone who loves movies but is constantly plagued by trying to find a copy of a non-Netflix available movie to watch right away, I was elated to discover Video Wave.
Having the dual honor of being San Francisco’s oldest video store and subsequently one of San Francisco’s only video stores left, it should really be classified as an historic site. Video Wave has everything from new releases to musicals, dramas to comedy, and my favorite: BBC series.
Still living in 1994? Not to worry! While the majority of Video Wave’s stock is DVDs and Blue-Ray, they also have a selection of VHS tapes available.
The best thing about Video Wave is the personal service. The staff is the heart and soul of the operation, always on hand to offer suggestions if you aren’t sure what you want to watch, or to help you find a Nicolas Cage action movie from the 90s.
You will have to open a new account, but it only takes a few minutes and unlike streaming sites there is no monthly fee.
Make sure to pick up your free fresh popcorn on the way out the door!
