Yoga to the People – Donation-based yoga studio

On any day of the week, you can find this giant room in the Mission packed full with yogis getting warmed up away from the noise of the city. Yoga to the People offers donation-based yoga classes, which are fantastic for people who love to practice but can’t afford the more expensive small studios around the city. YTTP offers classes almost 8 times a day, which is great if you love to get up early or if you want to relax after a day at work.

The room is fairly crowded everyday after 18:00, as everyone comes for some downward dogs after sitting in their desks all day. It’s best to show up 15 minutes before the class starts to get a good pick of your spot in the room. Almost 200 people can fit inside the room although it still manages to get very warm!

I love that this place is available for people like myself to give what they can, when they can. If you need to borrow a mat, you can also do so for a small fee. This studio is tucked away on the 5th floor of the building, be prepared to get a pre-workout climbing some steps before you settle down on your mat!
