The only place I’ve been to in Seattle more often than the PCC in Fremont is my own home. I’m sure I visit too often and spend an excessive amount of money there, but it’s close to where I live, and close to the canal, which I love to walk along; and they have so much of what we need: food.
I convince myself it’s alright to shop there so often because it’s a certified organic market, they only sell ethically sourced chocolates, and all their fish is from the right waterways. But the truth is it’s convenient and they have a lot of tasty prepared food options, including a great selection of vegetarian and vegan foods.
The exciting news is that PCC now has a salad bar. I love a good salad bar and since they’ve remodeled a little bit and put one in, I want to tell everyone – go there, go there now. If I happened to wake up one day and found myself to be a stranger visiting the Emerald City, and was poking around the Fremont neighborhood, beginning to be a little hungry … I would go right to PCC and get an enormous organic salad, an ethically sourced chocolate, and a bottle of kombucha, then go sit on the patio outside under the heat lamp (if it’s cold) and feel … very much like myself!
