This is the type of place you won’t read about in guidebooks but will be recommended to you by a friend of a friend of a friend.
Dubbed as the “best little bar in Seattle” JarrBarr is a cool and cozy spot under Pike Place Market and across from the ever so popular Zig Zag cocktail bar. Open late into the night, it is a great place to chill and hang out, with an impressive menu of unique craft cocktails and Spanish nibbles including cheese, marinated olives, bread and oil and cured meats. The salsa verde is excellent. My favorite drink is the Braveheart. The beer on tap is a great alternative.
You can also order tinned fish and soft boiled eggs served on a platter with sea salt.
Take your pick of games, from Connect 4 to backgammon and for the vinyl lovers there is a selection of records behind the bar.
The bar is small and warm and usually has one bartender on staff. Jesse is a favorite among regulars. I haven’t seen the jamón ibérico on display in Seattle outside of Europe. This bar reminds of some of the ones I visited in San Sebastian, Spain.
Happy hour is from 4-6 pm, 10-2 am and all day Sunday.
