Every once in a while we have a friend coming into town and a group of us exchange notes on where we should take them. “Mbar, do it”, one of them said. It was enough to pique my interest, so I made reservations and headed down on a clear but cool evening.
We met in the lobby, facing a fully stocked bar with pink lilies on display. We waited a few minutes while the hostess noted down our details. An elevator took us to the top floor and down a long corridor to another hostess who led us to our cushioned seats by the fire pit. The rooftop is a dynamic space with great views overlooking the city. I ordered The Last Cosmo and we shared the cauliflower hummus. It didn’t take long to get lost in the dancing flames while listening to ’90s hip hop. I would definitely visit this place in summer, when they have guest and resident DJs or maybe even during Halloween or New Year’s. I am sure the fireworks would be incredible.
Mbar is best known for their Divine Intervention cocktail. Inside and outside offer two different experiences, from a highly curated dinner, perfect for a date night to a more laid back local vibe, outside.
Reservations welcome.
Bonus – go during happy hour from 4-6pm or 5-6pm on weekends, with patio weather permitting.
