Just when you think that you’ve visited every corner of Skopje and there is nothing else to surprise you, among the old streets of Old Bazaar touched by the Turkish culture, hidden between historic walls, let yourself be led by the soft notes of jazz and blues until you end up at Beni’s Yellow Submarine.
Rustic from the outside and urban on the inside, it is a bit of a chameleon café that my Swiss friend and I stumbled upon while sightseeing in Skopje. Located in Bezisten, Old Bazaar, Beni’s is a great place to catch up with friends over a beer, enjoy a coffee and hide from the hot sun, or attend a concert that will teleport you to a British pub with a pint of ale in your hands.
The vintagy look of the place will make you feel like you’ve left Skopje for Berlin or just ended up in a hidden garden in Manchester. If you are a fan of The Beatles, jazz, blues, 60s, or just want to try something else beside Balkan places, this place is a must visit.
