The Eiffel Tower, wine, cheese, fashion and cinema are a few things that conjure emotions about France. Of course France is lot more than that. For those who did not have the chance to taste, see or live the French lifestyle, the Institut Français offers the best alternatives within our borders. Since opening in 1974, the Institut aims to promote cultural and intellectual links between Macedonia and France, by promoting French language, culture, history and art. It is also a reflection of contemporary French society through their regular program, which enriches the cultural life of our capital.
The Institut comprises a language centre, multi-media library and an exhibition area. In addition to traditional language courses, the Institut organizes book promotions, debates, lectures, conferences on different aspects of French culture and current affairs. The heart of the Institut is the Médiathèque, holding a collection of about 10.000 books of literature, science, history, biographies, art and music. The reading area is spacious and filled with music CDs, movies, daily newspapers, scientific journals and magazines are avalaible for rent or consultation. Not to mention its walls filled with artwork of different character.
A regular ingredient of their cultural program involves film screenings and their annual French film festival and music venues by French artists throughout the year. You will be amazed by the world of Francophonie. À la prochaine!
