People coming to Skopje say the city keeps growing on them. It’s full of character, atmosphere and excellent nightlife. One of the places that contributes to this statement is Jukebox. Situated in Debar maalo, the heart of the city, this underground bar/night club is one of the most popular places to spend the night out. It got its name from the 1950s Belgian jukebox inside that has been out of function for many years now.
Jukebox offers an excellent musical program with local live bands throughout the week. The basement stage is extremely small but that does not stop them from doing a good gig. Their rock-loving fans join an older crowd showing some dance moves to the younger generations on the dance floor. Extremely popular, especially during weekends, Jukebox is regarded as one of the establishments of Skopje nightlife.
What I like about the place is the mix of generations all dancing and enjoying themselves. In the winter it tends to get overcrowded with local artists, actors and musicians, enjoying the smoke-filled and loud atmosphere. People seem effortlessly cool and the atmosphere becomes contagious.
