The latest addition to the development of the alternative scene in Skopje is the open stage called Nautilus Konstrukt, located on the bank of the river Vardar, right before the Youth Cultural Center. Nautilus Konstrukt is a multifunctional, mobile, open, wooden structure, easily adaptable, able to convert and open for all :). It represents a new space for cultural and social initiatives, music performances and public gatherings of any kind.
The initiative came from the non-profit organization City Creative Network CCN Skopje, as a result from the lack of public space for expression and performance. So in July 2015 a group of students, architects, citizens, craftsmen and artists got together and built the stage in three weeks. Originally planned to host music, theatre and cinema events, I believe the stage will offer a lot more than that. It will also transform the way we use open space to boost creativity and contribute to the development of independent culture in Skopje.
As it is an open stage, there is no weekly agenda and the organizers depend on sunny days in Skopje for the upcoming period. They have great ideas and we hope to see more of them. From what I have seen so far, this may be just what Skopje needs.
