My first encounter with Bistro Pesto was on my birthday. I was rushing around for some last minute purchases for the party and I needed something quick for lunch. And then I saw it – a small, cozy bistro on the beautiful Angel Kanchev street. There was a sign “We offer 25 kinds of Panini” and this was more than enough to make me enter.
Bistro Pesto is owned by the warm-hearted Italian Mario and its concept is to offer mainly different kinds of panini sandwiches and salads made with typical Italian products. And as everyone who has been to Italy knows, the good food should be accompanied by good drinks and Bistro Pesto is no exception. You can try some typical Italian wines and aperitifs. And also do not miss their coffee made in a Moka pot (which always comes with a small delicious pastry), I can hardly think of another place in Sofia where you can have such a thing.
The place is small but the atmosphere and the decoration are great. You will see that everything is served on handmade ceramic plates and cups. All of them are the works of Mario’s wife the Bulgarian artist Ekaterina Lachova, you can even buy some of her works there, wonderful isn’t it?
It is fair to say that with their delicious food, excellent service and attention to every small detail Bistro Pesto brings the Italian atmosphere to the heart of Sofia and all of this comes at a very reasonable price!
