Globalization is a very delicate topic and I don’t want to burden you with my opinion about it. However one of the most visible effects of globalization assuredly is the spread of these so called malls or shopping centers all over the world. Of course, Sofia did not stay behind with the trends in that direction. Since the opening of the first mall, back in 2006, big companies are competing with each other to see who will build the biggest and the most modern one. With the advent of the malls the whole cinema experience has changed, most people now associate cinemas with the multiplexes and the highest-grossing and commercial movies.
Fortunately, there are still places like Euro Cinema, where you can enjoy a good movie in a relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are really small, maybe with a capacity for up to 30 people. But this makes the experience even more fascinating. It can happen that at a projection there are no more than 5-6 people, at such times you feel like the movie is projected only for you. And there have been times when I feel like going to a movie alone and at the ticket counter the woman will say I have to wait because they need to sell at least two tickets to start projection, isn’t that romantic?!
They present selected movies from prestigious film festivals around Europe and also some of the movies from Sofia Film Festival.
