Gustosa’s slogan is “We are the oldest and the best Greek restaurant in Sofia” and they kind of prove it every time I visit them.
Gustosa is located in not the most central neighborhood and you won’t happen to find it by coincidence that’s for sure. This is the reason why they rely on regular visitors who are happy with the service and the food they provide. And it seems that there are a lot of happy customers because even during lunchtime the place is always busy.
Places with good and fresh fish and seafood in Sofia are quite difficult to find so I am happy that Gustosa is one of the few. Besides the fresh fish, there are many typical Greek dishes like the famous Greek salad, Greek style zucchini (a must try), Greek moussaka and much more. For the meat lovers, there are big steaks with homemade french fries and tomato chutney. Of course, there is also a great selection of Greek drinks like local beer, wine, and ouzo.
It wouldn’t come as a surprise that the interior is styled like the typical Greek tavernas and seafood restaurants. It’s decorated in blue and white, with simple wooden tables and chairs – nothing fancy but at the same time, it is charming and relaxing.
My advice is to make a reservation ahead of time because there are many big groups, like my colleagues and I, going regularly, which means you might have to wait a while.
