In Sofia the noise is everywhere. Sometimes you can’t hear your own thoughts through the roar of the hustle. Ambulances, police cars, horns, motorbikes and the noisy trams that we have here combine with the words and steps of dozens people.

Although some may find this cacophony as the harmony of the living city, I do prefer the real music in it. And the good news is that you don’t necessarily have to go to a bar or concert hall. You don’t have to pay a ticket or wear a tie – the street musicians are always there for you.

My absolutely favourite is this gypsy jazz bend in the Theatre garden. Amazing! Four of them create perfect atmosphere for the people in the park, right next to the fountain. Next, I’d recommend a lady by the Mineral waters. She might not be completely to her senses, but has a lovely voice and often sings something like church or love songs.

If you’d like to hear some folk music or popular tunes from the past years, the blind musicians will wait for you on the south entrance of Serdica underpass. On the north one you could usually enjoy the classic music of students playing.

If you’re up for more folk music – visit the garden between the National Parliament and Sofia University, where you could find a dancing man playing bagpipe with bells on his waist. All that, and a few more, music talents you could find in the streets of Sofia.
