I discovered Stikki Nikki’s gelato bar last summer and must say that this is one of the best ice-cream spots in Stockholm. I used to work near one of their kiosks and it happened more than once that a coffee break turned into an ice-cream break.
I’ve heard that Swedish people are among those who eat the most ice-cream in Europe, only the Finns have us beat. Quite fascinating since we have winter and cold weather longer than we have summer.
Stikki Nikki offers different flavours every day, freshly made in the morning or the night before so check their Facebook to see what today’s flavours are. The gelato is made with organic ingredients and Nikki offers some quite unusual tastes. If you want to taste something typically Swedish you should try the messmör gelato or any flavour with salty liquorice. The salty caramel gelato is fantastic.
If you prefer sorbet there is normally not that much to choose from at other ice-cream kiosks, but at Stikki Nikki there are some great options for vegans and lactose intolerants. Try the coconut sorbet, the apple/cinnamon or the lovely chocolate sorbet for example.
