Jebena – East African deliciousness

You know how there are places that you think about that make you smile? Well Jebena is one of those places for me. I don’t know if it’s the spicy perfection of the food’s flavor, the heartiness of the meal portions, eating with my hands or a bit of all of those reasons. I just love Jebena! A two minute train ride from the central station, then literally in Rådhuset train station, Jebena is an easily accessible haven for East African cuisine.

The best thing about Jebena is the Injera bread. Large, spongy, delicious and unlimited, this bread had me at first bite. I like to try different combinations of meats and sauces rolled up in the bread. Most of the dishes have a bit of kick to the spices which is perfect for me, but I wouldn’t recommend it for children.

The friendly staff is very helpful when it comes time to order and the prices are more than reasonable. I like to try something different every visit, and each time I think that dish was the best. That only proves how consistently delicious the food is at Jebena! I suggest getting a mix platter with a variety of dishes.

The mood is just right at Jebena as well. Once inside, I forget that I’m just a few feet from the subway escalators. The warm lighting and fun interior design combine for the perfect environment to get away from it all and enjoy some amazing East African cuisine.
