The Caribbean has its smallest island on a street corner on Södermalm. Strange as it may seem when stepping in to this little shop, where the reggae rhythms and chocolate fruits meet, that is the feeling I get every time.
This small shop is driven by Duane Dove. To call him passionate about chocolate would be an understatement. He has his own chocolate plantation on Tobago, he has full control over the production from fruit to chocolate bar for sale in his shop, he runs chocolate and rum tastings and he has even written a book* on the subject. So when I come here, it is more of a gastronomical adventure than shopping chocolate bars. There is always something new to learn and some new goodies to buy. Due to Swedish alcohol laws, you cannot buy rum here, but you can certainly get advice on what to get to accompany the high class chocolate that is sold here.
My favorites include Duane’s Single Estate Chocolate, a magnificent hand crafted cane sugar and I usually get some of the exquisite truffles. You can also stay for a cup of coffee and enjoy the caribbean feeling.
