On those days I’m too lazy to think of what to cook at home, the location of this wine bar on my way home from work, makes it too easy to slip in for a bite and a good glass of wine. Although located by Slussen, one of Stockholm’s busiest commuter hubs, the bar has a slightly hidden entrance next to McDonalds. Not very large, relaxing lounge chairs and the possibility of sitting on bar stools overlooking Slussen, gives the place a laid back atmosphere.
All waiters are trained sommeliers and are genuinely interested in suggesting great wine. With more than 50 wines served by the glass to choose from, you can become a regular like myself, and still not run out of new discoveries. The selection on offer is frequently updated and so a favorite may be taken off the list when the last bottle in a shipment has been sold.
The food menu is a lot shorter than the wine list. But, and here’s a tip, it always has a daily special on offer delivered down by elevator from restaurant Eriks Gondolen, the well known restaurant the wine bar belongs to. Priced at 135 kr, the daily special is offered at a much lower price than if you would order the same dish in the aforementioned restaurant. Eating and drinking without your bank statement plunging through the floor, is always a welcome experience in Sweden’s capital.
