This not only the biggest pool, it is also the oldest indoor pool that was built in Soviet times for competitions and training. Also this is the only one that stretches 50 meters. Therefore Kalev Spa is the place where the Estonian Olympic team trains and where every real swimmer goes.
As I am a swimming addict, this is the place where I go regularly and do advise others to go too. Okay, the place is quite worn out, the facilities need a brush up and some paint here and there, but all in all it is still fine. Besides sportsmen there are lots of families and kids and just people relaxing in the saunas and pools. It also has a 25m track, tubes to slide down and a children’s pool, a little juice and snack bar inside, so bring your waterproof wallet!
It’s situated on the edge of old town and has a small hotel built inside too. Kalev has a small swim-wear shop and cafe in the waiting area. Best to go during summer-time as the place is nearly empty. It had been closed for some time, but now it has undergone minor repairs and is open again.
