It was a sad day in my life when I heard that my favorite cafe in the historic park of Kadrioru would be closed. It was my favorite place to spend hours with Dostoyevsky and a slice of Schwarzwald cake.
The sadness was instantly wiped away when I heard that the building had been rented out to a renowned pastry chef Angeelika Kang. The news could have not been better. I have been hearing praises about Angeelika’s pâtisserie Cafe More that is situated in Viru Keskus shopping center but who likes to eat cake in a shopping center? Certainly not me. So I was very happy to hear that soon I could pick up my book again and head to Kadrioru Park.
The newly opened cafe is called Katharinenthal and it has a (Estonian influenced) French style cafe on the first floor, a restaurant on the second floor and a terrace that they call a “champagne terrace”.
Again I can now sit back at my favorite table where the sun is gleaming through leaves of oak trees and the swans are lazily passing their time in a nearby pond.
